Educational Access Group

A nonprofit organization

EdAG trains and supports educators around brain-based, trauma-informed strategies. The work ensures that ALL students are safe and can learn despite the trauma/stress they have experienced. Funds raised reduce the burden on schools and allows them to take on this life changing work.

Testimonials

"In my experience, Educational Access group has had a tremendous impact on schools by collaborating with staff in order to develop and implement effective, evidence-based strategies that allow schools to focus on the whole child. They meet schools where they are and help them identify, create and monitor the systems and structures that will support the school's unique needs and goals. I have seen firsthand how their work ultimately improves both academic and social emotional outcomes for students, as well supporting the staff in their own personal and professional development in order to fully understand how to best meet the needs of a diverse student population. Schools that partner with Educational Access Group will find true partners in the work, professionals they can count on to be knowledgeable, innovative, approachable, and supportive throughout the entire partnership and beyond. A partnership with Educational Access Group can mean the difference between a just another "flavor of the month" program to a true and effective initiative that has a lasting impact on both students and staff. "

"This is heart work, that isn't to be taken lightly and we need schools who are ready to step outside of "best practice" and truly commit to this is best for kids based on child/teen/adult development. If you want your school or district to go through a transformative process that is, supportive, based in research and both independent and collective, partner with Educational Access Group."

"To say that this training is a GAME CHANGER is an understatement. Educational Access Group has opened our staff's eyes to discovering why behaviors are happening and how to address them. Now, teachers are helping students regulate throughout the day and finding ways to re-engage them in learning. This has led to a significant decrease in time-out-of-class, suspensions, fights, etc. Halley and Katie provided concrete strategies for all teachers in their own classrooms. GAME CHANGER!"

"EAG has provided a trajectory of learning that blows any other district trauma PD out of the water- and I've been to all of them. I really can't explain how deeply this learning has changed my mindself, our staff mindsets, our behavior and how those changes are positively impacting our students and families. "

Mission

We established Educational Access Group so that students could thrive in education not just survive the system.

Background Statement

Born from a partnership between co-founders, Dr. Katie Lohmiller, a public health expert and Halley Gruber, a veteran teacher; Educational Access Group (EdAG) was established in 2017 in response to a need voiced by educators across the country around trauma-informed approaches and the impacts of trauma in schools. The program was piloted in 2017 in a large, Denver elementary school and since expanded to support hundreds of educators (and thousands of students!) across Colorado.
