Friends of Retired Greyhounds is an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization that is dedicated to finding loving, forever homes and promoting the adoption and well-being of retired racing greyhounds as loving family pets.
*I adopted my best girl through FORG! They were absolutely supportive throughout the entire process, including informative phone calls and a home visit. My home visit volunteer is amazing- she even showed up at the haul just to help me get my pup ready to go home. *I can't speak highly enough about FORG. I volunteered with a different, local, Greyhound rescue but grew tired of the adoption protocols that ended up creating a shortage of dogs available for adoption. FORG's processes and procedures allows potential adopters the opportunity to adopt sooner rather than later, the opportunity to choose their own dog, the opportunity for more Greys to come to Colorado and into forever homes, AND amazing resources for adopters both during and after the adoption process. Friends of Retired Greyhounds strives to find loving forever homes for retired greyhounds and works to educate the public about the breed as well as the life that greyhounds live as "professional athletes".
Friends of Retired Greyhounds was started May 2, 2001 when seven friends met and voted to start an adoption group to help retired racing greyhounds find couches. FOR Greyhounds, now Friends of Retired Greyhounds, organization's key mission then and now remains the same. Fast-forward sixteen years and Friends of Retired Greyhounds is bigger and more efficient than before. With years of experience in placing greyhounds in their forever and loving homes under our belts, the sky is the limit with what we will be able to accomplish in the years to come.
Friends of Retired Greyhounds is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to working with kennel operators and other adoption groups to place retired greyhounds in responsible, loving homes. We work with veterinarians to insure that greyhounds adopted from us are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and in general good health before placing them in homes. We also educate individuals and groups about greyhounds, their history, their lives as racing dogs, our adoption program and its wonderful benefits to those that adopt these wonderful dogs.
