Testimonials

"This feels like I've won the lottery, only better, because it comes with a community."- Suzette, Partner Family

"Although I got to paint my room and pick up nails, my favorite part of the house is the doorbell! It isn't just a doorbell, it is a sign of welcome, a sign to say this is your home. I've never had a doorbell that has every worked and sometimes there wasn't even one- so when I see that door bell I know this is our forever home." - Maryann, daughter of Homeowner

Mission

A world ( including Parachute to Aspen) where everyone has a decent place to live.

Seeking to put love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community, and hope.

Background Statement

Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley was founded in 1999 when a group of concerned residents set out to form a Habitat Affiliate with a mission to build homes in partnership with local families in need of affordable homeownership. The new organization served the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys—from Aspen to Glenwood Springs to Parachute.

Originally, Habitat RFV built one home at a time on donated land and was completely volunteer-operated. In 2004, Habitat started hiring staff to provide structure and help to better achieve the mission. From 2004-2014, the organization would build approximately one home every two years. In 2015, Habitat RFV began to increase pace of construction and built four homes. In 2021, Habitat completed nine homes. Presently, between 2024-2026, through both new construction and development neutral conversions, Habitat is bringing over 110 new homeownership opportunities to the Roaring Fork Valley community.

For each of Habitat RFV’s 26 years, the Affiliate has worked closely with Habitat partner families through every step of the homeownership process and has built safe, affordable housing with over 250 adults and children.
