LLTR is a OneBook, OneCommunity program that each year invites an inspiring author to speak to a large audience of avid readers. The program has continued for eighteen years with authors varying from regional favorites to an internationally acclaimed Pulitzer Prize winner.

This book tells the story of two women who joined the American Red Cross Club-mobile service during World War 11, forged a friendship while experiencing untold horrors at the front line, and ended up in hugely different circumstances. The story is based on the life of Luis' mother.
