Testimonials

Tom Clark, former CEO, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, Executive VP, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce: "When I think of the Colorado Children's Campaign, I think 'best data ever.' Whenever I have a business leader looking for data, I send them straight to the Children's Campaign."

Holly Jacobson, It's About Kids Network Member: "By partnering with the Colorado Children's Campaign, the Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families reaches a broader audience collaboratively - at the local and state levels - with KIDS COUNT data, research, information, and advocacy facilitated by the Campaign to improve the quality, access and equity of services for children and their families. The Campaign provides a critical link between children and communities across the state. Through their partnerships, leadership, and initiative, they show that investing in your community, through child and family programs, is supporting the state's most important asset: our future."

Speak Up participant: "I learned tremendous amounts of information and got relevant practice in a realm that formerly seemed inaccessible."

Parent Academy participant: "The Colorado Children's Campaign's Parent Academy was an excellent way to learn concrete ways to advocate for our children's education as well as gain knowledge on how education policy works. I would definitely recommend it for any parent who wants to advocate for their own kids as well as other kids in the community."

Elaine Grossman, Valley Settlement Project, Carbondale: "Valley Settlement is just one of the thousands of organizations that benefit from your important work and advocacy…I would be hard-pressed to count the number of times we refer to KIDS COUNT throughout the year."

Jackie Florendo, Joint Initiatives For Youth And Families, Colorado Springs: "It's About Kids! is a great resource for our Early Childhood Council and Community! The information, the data, legislative updates, resources and people are fantastic! One example of the many benefits our community has reaped includes the KIDS COUNT in Colorado Community Presentation."

Mission

The Colorado Children's Campaign is the leading voice for Colorado's children. We advocate for the development and implementation of data-driven public policy that improves child and family well-being. We partner with organizations and communities to advance family and child well-being.

Background Statement

We envision a world where the health, wellbeing, and happiness of our children is our community’s highest shared priority. In this world, all children are joyful, self-actualized, and able to exercise the agency to create their own future and define success on their own terms. Caregivers are recognized for their role in our children’s development and adequately supported for multi-generational thriving. To these ends, we must disrupt racist and inequitable structures that distance children and families from opportunity.

Since our founding in 1985, we have a proven track record of identifying policy opportunities for child success, researching effective interventions, capitalizing on grassroots momentum, educating policymakers and the public, building support for solutions, and ultimately affecting critical change to improve the lives of children. We nurture a foundation of data to shine a light on the most pressing issues facing children and families in Colorado. We target racist and classist policies and systems to remove barriers for children who face the most obstacles to opportunity. We work at the intersections of numerous issues impacting child well-being and navigate adeptly across programmatic and regulatory structures of government. We monitor enacted legislation to ensure policies are effective and implemented with fidelity, and address any unintended harmful consequences. We share our expertise in coalition, spearhead initiatives to grow the field of advocates, and collaborate with impacted communities to ensure that all children are represented in state and local efforts. We are committed to responding not only to the immediate needs of children and families, but designing robust futures through incremental change.
