Hello friends,
Thank you for visiting my Colorado Gives Day fundraising page for the Denver Streets Partnership, a division of Bicycle Colorado.
At the Denver Streets Partnership, we believe that human dignity should be the guiding principle for the design of our streets and our communities. But decades of public policy decisions have prioritized the speed of driving and the profits of car companies over the safety and well-being of people. So far this year, more than seventy of our fellow Denver residents have lost their lives in traffic crashes that could have been prevented, if we had made different policy choices.
When voters approved the Denver Deserves Sidewalks initiative, they sent a clear message: Denverites believe a better city is possible and are willing to collectively invest in making that vision a reality. The outcome of the November election was a huge win, and we still have so much work to do! We must ensure the sidewalk program is successfully implemented in a way that honors the will of the voters. And we must build on this momentum to move forward the additional policies and investments required to fully transform our streets from deadly highways into vibrant, people-friendly public spaces that are welcoming to all.
We can't do this work without supporters like you. Thank you for joining me in my personal goal to raise $2,500 for the Denver Streets Partnership!
With gratitude,
Jill Locantore
