Empowering Financial Stability through Free Tax Services for 20 Years:
For two decades, Denver Asset Building Coalition (DABC) has been a steadfast resource, helping thousands in our community access critical financial resources, overcome barriers to economic stability, and build a better future. By offering free, high-quality tax services, we’ve empowered individuals and families to maximize their refunds, navigate complex IRS issues, and access credits like the Child Tax Credit that keep households afloat. With your support, we can continue to stand with our community’s most vulnerable individuals, helping each person claim what they’re owed and supporting the larger Denver economy.
Join us in sustaining DABC’s legacy of service by making a gift! Every dollar invested yields a $35 return in economic impact within Denver—creating ripple effects that benefit entire families, neighborhoods, and the greater community.
About DABC
Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a fair shot at financial security, DABC was created to ensure that low-income families and individuals have the support they need to navigate the tax system and build assets. Even during the pandemic, when access to support was most needed, DABC kept its doors open, moving operations outdoors to serve as Denver’s sole in-person, free tax service provider for those first challenging years.
As one of the few organizations in the U.S. offering both free tax preparation and legal representation through our Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC), DABC remains an irreplaceable community partner, helping clients resolve tax issues that would otherwise threaten their overall wellbeing.
Impact Stories
We have thousands of success stories every year, but here are two of our favorites:
In 2022 DABC helped “Laura,” a young, single mother, file her taxes to receive the Child Tax Credit and stimulus payments for her and her child. In previous years, Laura’s mother, who she does not live with and who does not support her, claimed Laura as her dependent and received refunds and stimulus payments that were intended to go to Laura. This year, Laura ultimately received a check for $6,400 ($3,600 for the Child Tax Credit and $2,800 in stimulus funds for her and her child). Laura said that she is using these funds to buy a car so that she can go to work and be able to drive her child to daycare.
