"I’ve had a ferret for about a year with severe biting issues that I’d lost all patience with. The same methods I used to train my daughter’s ferret not to bite in two days didn’t phase this one. The final straw (or so I’d thought) was when this ferret latched onto my 8yo daughter’s wrist, started shaking and wouldn’t let go until I got over there to pull her off. She stayed locked in the enclosure for about a week and then I called these guys to see if they could take her in. Instead they offered some advice and agreed to take her in if it didn’t work. As I said, my patience with her was gone and i honestly didn’t even want to try anything else because I didn’t believe anything would work and it would just give her more opportunities to bite me, but I reluctantly gave it a shot anyway. To my shock, after three corrections total in the span of about an hour, she has not bit either me or my daughter since. Not only that, her whole demeanor has changed. Now I’ll even feel one of the ferrets touch my foot and look down expecting to see the other one, and it’s her looking up at me wanting attention. We are now able to hold, pet and snuggle the same ferret we didn’t want to put our hands near just a few days ago. Could not be happier with the dramatic change, all thanks to these guys. Absolutely the kindest and most sincere people I've ever met working in animal care. When adopting, they provided me with tons of resources to help ease the transitioning process, and they really encouraged me to take my time to find the group that would fit me and my household the best. Mission
Believing that ferrets are an often neglected pet, Ferret Dreams Rescue and Adoption aims to provide unwanted, neglected, ill or abused ferrets with the help and care they need so they may become eligible for adoption in permanent homes with caring families.
The animals in Ferret Dream's care will have their medical needs provided by a medical fund in which all donations are directed.
Background Statement
Ferret Dreams Rescue and Adoption is a small ferret rescue located in south Denver. We were instituted due to the need for a rescue which caters only to a much misunderstood animal, the domestic ferret. For over 13 years we have brought in well over a thousand animals in need of a home and/or care and have been growing each year since. All potential adopters are screened and we always seek to keep paired animals relinquished into our care together. As we have grown we have had to have waiting lists of animals to come in, sometimes months until we could accommodate them. With such a pressing and rising need, we feel the need to reach out to the larger community for their help so that we may continue our mission.
