Green Mountain Gives

November 15 - December 10, 2024 (Colorado Gives Day)!

THE NEED

We aim to update much-needed sound systems in the gym and auditorium. To support these improvements, and more, the GMHS Foundation is hoping to raise $50,000 during our Green Mountain Gives fundraising campaign. THIS IS OUR PRIMARY FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR. If you are new to giving at GMHS, the Foundation plays a similar role to a PTA/PTO in elementary and middle school. Our kids may be older, but the needs are greater than ever. PLEASE make a difference and donate today!

THE GMHS FOUNDATION

The Green Mountain High School Foundation invests the funds raised to make a direct, financial impact to support the educational needs and extracurricular endeavors of the school's 1100+ students, staff, and teachers. The Foundation is a registered 501c3 non-profit that acts as the parent organization to almost 20 booster clubs that nurture the students' athletic, academic, and arts interests.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

- new paint and carpet for the auditorium

- Hard-wiring ethernet for the Mac lab

THE RAM OPP

Twice each year, the GMHS Foundation opens the Ram Opp, an application process for staff to seek grants that fulfill gaps and expand resources in the classroom. We're eager to open up our next application in January 2025.

THE LARKIN FAMILY PHILANTHROPY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was introduced in 2022 to recognize Jeff and Tina Larkin for their role in founding the GMHS Foundation and being the visionary leaders who operated it for 15 years. In that time, the foundation collectively raised more than $2 million, all money that went to and directly served the students and staff at Green Mountain High School. Jeff was a 1988 graduate of GMHS, as are their four children. And Tina is a dedicated teacher in Jeffco schools. Jeff coaches the boys lacrosse team, and the entire Larkin family remains actively involved with the GMHS and greater Green Mountain community. They are an exceptional example of a life well lived through philanthropy. They have set a Ram Standard by which we all strive to meet and exceed.

Starting with the class of 2023, an annual award of $1,000 will be given a GMHS senior who has exhibited an exceptional passion and aptitude for philanthropic endeavors, exceeding more than 80 hours of service and volunteerism during their four-year high school career.

Mission

The mission of the Green Mountain High School Foundation is to raise funds for educational and activity purposes to support the interests of Green Mountain High School, its students, staff, and teachers. We are committed to inspiring philanthropy to ensure the personal and academic growth of all Green Mountain High School students.

Background Statement

Green Mountain High School is the home of Jeffco's only advanced learning Academy program, and we take great pride in offering students access to the most advanced and comprehensive academic, professional, social and athletic high school experience available in Jefferson County. This notable accomplishment is made possible through the collaborative efforts and commitments by the leadership, teachers, students, parents and community.

The Green Mountain High School Foundation, founded in 2009, is comprised of parents, community leaders, alumni and staff working together to inspire philanthropy that will ensure the personal and academic growth of all GMHS students. The GMHS Foundation continues to evolve and grow and as a result, has been able to begin providing financial support and services to a diverse number of academic and enrichment programs at the school.

Funds which are not specifically allocated to individual athletic, social, or activity based programs are dispersed through our Ram Opportunity Funding Program which allocates the funds raised based on a grant application system. Each fiscal year we disperse assets raised based on the following:

• 50% to short-term academic needs (examples include: learning center improvements, textbooks and specialty presenters)

• 30% to short-term environmental needs (examples include: technology, student assemblies, and classroom improvements)

• 20% to medium-term (3-5 years) academic or environmental needs.
