One year after COVID entered our lives Jefferson County's nonprofits continue to respond to and recover from its impacts. Jefferson County is our home and we want it to thrive. That's why we launched the Jeffco Hope Fund spring of 2020 to help our community through the pandemic.
To date, more than $1.5 million has been distributed to Jeffco nonprofits supporting emergency issues in Jefferson County, ranging from food access to healthcare. More help is needed and that's why we're investing another $2 million and asking you to join us by contributing what you can. Businesses, families and individuals can donate to the Jeffco Hope Fund and help spread hope where we live. Together, we can make good possible and keep Jeffco strong.
How the Jeffco Hope Fund is helping:
• More than $1.5 million has been raised and distributed to Jeffco nonprofits since the fund was created in April 2020.
• Food banks found supplier shelves empty and shelters overwhelmed. Requests for food support increased 30-50% during COVID, and local food banks and community partners leveraged Jeffco Hope Funding to distribute nearly 200,000 pounds of food and more than 128,000 meals to Jeffco families in 2020.
• In the final months of 2020, the Foundation granted an additional $397,000 from the fund's balance to support Jeffco families struggling with childcare challenges as schools continued with remote learning.
• Emerging community needs were more than most local organizations could manage. COVID's impacts stretched beyond essential services to already stretched education and arts and culture institutions.
