Mountain Peace Shelter, a key program of PeaceWorks, Inc., provides safe shelter and comprehensive support services to survivors of domestic (intimate partner) violence and/or sexual assault and their children. Through our SafePets program, we also offer sanctuary to the pets and livestock of our residents, allowing families to stay together with their beloved animals, often on-site. In addition to shelter-based support, we offer non-residential, mobile advocacy services, including accompaniment to medical and court appointments, ensuring that survivors have the guidance and support they need. Our weekly Community Wellness Program empowers individuals to nurture their personal well-being, strengthen healthy relationships, and create safer, more resilient homes.

Testimonials

"PeaceWorks helped me transition through leaving my husband being empowered and initiating my divorce, and they are still there to support me and love me, and I am so thankful for everything that I had gained through the services."

"PeaceWorks truly became a sanctuary for me, offering a space where I could heal and feel completely safe. From the moment I walked in, I was met with such care and compassion that I immediately felt understood. It was as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, and I experienced a deep sense of relief. Every aspect—from block therapy, wellness sessions, and the meditation walk—helped me prepare for the next chapter of my life. I am deeply thankful to all the staff and the women in the shelter for this incredible opportunity, and I am forever grateful."

"I love it here - it is awesome! Everyone is nice, and it is beautiful and peaceful." - from a 10-year-old daughter of one of our clients.

"Not sure if you all were aware but by you assisting to rescue my dog from the shelter we actually saved her life. The humane society was going to euthanize her because she was acting out from a scared and fearful state. You really do save souls not just human but our furry babies too. I know you ladies have a heart for our four-legged friends. Thank you so entirely much for helping in her rescue. I don't think I could have overcome her death with any ease at all. She's my guardian angel. Thanks again, I could NEVER repay you for that."

"Thank you for the stability the shelter provided my family. If the shelter had not been available, we would have slept in the snow."

"Staying at the shelter was a life-changing experience for me. It allowed me to focus on goals and gave me a safe, secure place to heal."

"You have helped me to be more peaceful and to start to rebuild my life."

"The staff treated me and my kids not just as part of a group, but as part of a family."
