It's heeeee-re!! Join Art from Ashes and the LGBTQIA community for our TENTH YEAR of the Running of the Gays on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2019!!
The Running of the Gays is a 3-block "marathon" in heels to fund creative empowerment programs for queer youth who are struggling with bullying, self-defeating behaviors and isolation.
Join Art from Ashes, Denver's LGBTQIA community and allies as we run toward a better future for youth! The 10th annual Running of the Gays will support creative empowerment programs that encourage struggling young people to recognize their creative genius and personal resiliency through poetry and spoken word.
Every registered runner raises money through sponsorships to run 3 blocks down 17th Avenue in heels. Art from Ashes supplies free boas and "I brought the gay" t-shirts for every runner and special prizes to those who raise $250 or more in sponsorships (everything is free to all participating youth). The marathon is followed by an all-ages after party at X Bar with performances by local spoken word poets, Queens and Drag Kings and dancers, as well as a silent auction and an awards ceremony for Most Beef, Hottest Hoofer, Udderly Delicious and Most Vociferous Proponent!
