Support SWEEP’s fight for a cleaner, more energy-efficient future in Colorado

For 25 years, the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) has championed energy efficiency and clean energy solutions across the Southwest. Through advocacy, partnerships, and innovative initiatives, SWEEP has helped Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming lead the way in addressing the climate crisis by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the electric grid, advancing transportation electrification, and supporting comfortable, efficient homes featuring electric appliances. Our efforts in these states have strengthened energy efficiency standards, promoted cleaner transportation options, and ensured that income-qualified households can benefit from the clean energy transition.

Below are some of SWEEP's accomplishments, spearheaded by our Colorado staff, that drive Colorado as a model for clean and affordable energy and environmental stewardship. With your donation, we can continue tackling the challenges ahead, driving impactful solutions for a cleaner, healthier, and more transformative Colorado and Southwest region. Here’s what we’ve accomplished recently — with your help on Colorado Gives Day, we can do even more!

Advancing clean energy and electrification investments

In the face of federal funding freezes, SWEEP is taking a bold stand to defend federal dollars that directly benefit Coloradans. By spearheading a united effort, SWEEP is fighting to safeguard every available dollar for money-saving energy efficiency, transportation electrification, and clean energy programs that transform homes and communities.

Shaping utility planning for a clean energy future and supporting underserved communities

SWEEP has successfully championed initiatives that enable utilities to provide energy efficiency and electrification upgrades in hundreds of households with limited and fixed incomes, as well as in homes located in underserved communities. These robust programs not only uplift income-qualified households but also make significant strides in supporting historically climate vulnerable communities through vital health and safety improvements while conserving energy.

SWEEP also partnered with state agencies, local governments, and stakeholders to shape federal programs available for Colorado residents to invest in energy-saving technologies that help customers make their homes healthy and more comfortable, while reducing the amount of energy they consume. SWEEP’s work helped to bring hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding into the state.

Mission

SWEEP is dedicated to building a healthy, equitable, and low-carbon future through energy efficiency, electrification, and clean transportation across the southwestern United States. SWEEP works in partnership with utilities, governments, businesses, nonprofits, and elected officials to develop and advocate for non-partisan, cost-effective strategies that benefit all communities, with a focus on those that have faced historic inequities.

As technical experts, thought leaders, and policy advocates, SWEEP’s staff drive impactful solutions that make energy use in buildings, transportation, and industry as clean and low-carbon as possible. We envision a world where everyone has access to affordable, clean energy and mobility options, fostering a thriving economy, healthy environment, and sustainable future for all.
