Western Slope Blue Star Mothers

A nonprofit organization

Here on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies, it can be hard to find a way to support your local service members. There isn't a military base, our local service members number in the 100's rather than 1000's, and come a go quietly, with little fanfare, usually from bigger airports in Denver and Salt Lake City.

Today, you can make a real difference by donating to the Active-Duty Service program with Western Slope Blue Star Mothers.

We are committed to ensuring military-bound high school graduates are recognized, new recruits and new military families are connected to a network of community support, that our active-duty service members get a taste of home each year and are welcomed home when they return. Your donation stays local and benefits Western Slope service members and their families!

Land of the Free, Because of the Brave. This 4th of July, make a donation in honor of the service-member or veteran in your life and make a difference to our local, active-duty men and women.

Mission

Western Slope Blue Star Mothers' mission is to strengthen and connect our military community, and to make certain that military service is honored, respected, and remembered.

Our four core program areas are connecting Blue Star Mothers, serving our military, honoring our Gold Star Families, and promoting patriotism. Western Slope Blue Star Mothers (WSBSM) is an all-volunteer organization with an active Chapter Executive Board and is the largest chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America in Colorado.

A Blue Star Mother is a mother who has a child that is either an active duty or veteran service member. Blue Star Mothers are not only biological mothers, but stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers, and others who fulfill a mother's role.

Background Statement

Western Slope Blue Star Mothers is a chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, a national nonprofit organization with over 200 chapters and 6,000 members across the United States.

WSBSMA was chartered in June 2017 after Cheryl Masters, a Blue Star Mother from California, moved to Grand Junction and saw the need for a Chapter here. Our chapter started with five members in Grand Junction has grown to serve mothers and service members across the Western Slope of Colorado.
