Our mission at Bird Conservancy of the Rockies is the conservation of birds and their habitats through an integrated approach of science, education and land stewardship. Biodiversity is declining faster than at any other time in human history. We have lost nearly 3 billion birds in North America since 1970. That equates to more than 1 in 4 birds lost in less than a human lifetime. This is a stark reminder that the natural systems we rely on are in extreme crisis.
Bird Conservancy of the Rockies was launched in 1988 inspired by the need to better understand bird populations in the West and address the causes of population loss. We are working tirelessly to reverse declines in bird populations by identifying and addressing factors affecting these declines. We take a holistic approach to this work by partnering with people and communities to identify mutually beneficial conservation solutions that scale across time and space, working at the speed of trust. Because of this approach, Bird Conservancy has become a leader in the field of bird monitoring and research, creating comprehensive, awarding-winning education programs connecting people to the natural world, and instituting a stewardship program focused on the nexus of landowners, agricultural producers, natural resources and wildlife habitat.
