The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA)'s State VALE Emergency Fund Program makes life easier for crime victims in Colorado and for the advocates who work so tirelessly on their behalf. This small fund "fills in the gaps" by addressing emergency needs that are not eligible for, or covered by, Colorado's larger VOCA Emergency Fund or local Victims' Compensation Funds. This fund assists crime victims with a variety of urgent needs directly connected to their victimization, such as relocation and gas, food, towing and impound, home security systems and system installations, replacement door locks, and much more.
In 2020, COVA experienced drastic cuts to the State VALE Emergency Fund: Less than $30,000 is available in 2021 to assist victims throughout the state of Colorado. With the continued increase in victims' needs, that amount is equal to less than $150 per crime victim who urgently needs help.
The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA) is committed to fairness and healing for crime victims, their families and communities through leadership, education, and advocacy. Your donation will give a crime victim an opportunity to heal and restore balance to their lives.
