Background Statement
A Cheerful Heart Outreach Ministry is a young nonprofit, established in the summer of 2020, following the devastation of seeing that a disproportionate number of Americans killed by the Covid-19 pandemic, were at-risk minorities with underlying chronic diseases. This realization led to our decision to implement my 20 years of medical and nursing skills, to reach out to at-risk patients with diabetes and hypertension. The goal being to empower them with confidence and knowledge to self-manage their chronic diseases, which will hopefully result in better health outcomes.
In 2022, ACHOM was funded by the Colorado Springs Health Foundation. This funding gave us the opportunity to extend our prediabetes, diabetes, and hypertension self-management workshops to at-risk populations throughout the city. During 2022, we reached nearly 400 people with our services through partnerships ranging from high schools, to senior living facilities, to churches.
