A Way Forward was incorporated in August 2020 and opened on January 1, 2021, during the COVID pandemic. The opening responded to the community's need for more resources due to the increasing rates of alcohol use, overdoses, depression, and anxiety. Isolation and lack of community have significantly impacted those experiencing substance use disorder.

The organization has a team of trained Recovery Coaches or Peer Support Specialists who have experience with recovery, either personally or through loved ones. Operating seven days a week, from 9 AM to 8 PM, A Way Forward is accessible for anyone seeking recovery.

A Way Forward provides evidence-based, structured recovery solutions, including a free 12-Week Intensive Outpatient Program and structured classes using Hazelden Betty Ford recovery materials, such as the 8-week Mental and Emotional Health series classes (Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Anger, Shame & Guilt, Self-Esteem & Self-Compassion). The organization hosts various Recovery Support Groups, both secular and non-secular, along with its own structured groups. Recognizing addiction as a family issue, support for loved ones is also offered. Additionally, mindfulness groups and Acudetox treatments are available to support holistic healing. The facility creates a welcoming space for sober community belonging, and trained staff are available seven days a week for individual support. Two veterans on staff host veterans groups and provide assistance navigating the VA and local veterans' resources.

Located centrally in downtown Longmont, the facility is easily accessible by bus, two blocks from the main hub. All services are free, and we never ask for identification or citizenship. Services are also available in Spanish.

Testimonials

"Walking in was scary, then it became a second home."  The sense of community is more like family.  I come almost every day.  I have to go the HUB 2-3 times a week, so location is great for me.  The classes are diverse and beneficial for finding myself again."

"Community, staff and location. The love and acceptance have been so powerful. The classes, IOP groups have helped me learn and grow so much in such a short time.  I am excited for this to continue."

"I am forever grateful for AWF. It has saved my life and continues to push me to a life of sobriety."

Mission

Smash barriers to recovery and create more access to comprehensive, evidence-based services focused on substance use and mild to moderate mental health disorders and create a community of belonging and healing in the St. Vrain Valley.

Background Statement

A Way Forward was incorporated in August 2020 and opened January 1, 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. Our opening was in response to the community's needs to have more resources available for the rapidly rising rates of alcoholism, overdoses, depression, and anxiety. Isolation and lack of community have been devastating especially for those experiencing substance use disorder.

We have a strong team of Certified Recovery Coaches. All have walked the road to recovery, either personally or with family members. We are very accessible for those seeking recovery operating 7 days a week, from 9a - 8p.

We are centrally located in downtown Longmont. Easily accessible to bus route, two blocks from the main hub.
