Assistance League of Colorado Springs is a compassionate service organization supporting children and families in need in El Paso County. In 2021-2022 we served 9,726 individuals through our philanthropies. Our Bargain Box Thrift Store and other fundraising activities provide our financial support.
In three years we screened the hearing of 2000 preschoolers. One referral resulted in saving a boy's life by finding a bone tumor.
We provide Buddy Bears at the Emergency Room for children experiencing trauma. One father recently wrote and asked for another bear, as his daughter had received one some 10 years ago. They are in the military and have moved to many locations. His daughter has clung to the bear and it was in tatters. We gladly sent another.
Assistance League of Colorado Springs is a nonprofit, all volunteer, philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the well-being of the children and families of El Paso County.
National Assistance League was the first nonprofit, non political, non sectarian organization of its kind in the west to recognize the potential of volunteers dedicated to helping those within their community. The founding chapter was organized in southern California in 1919. The first services were family counseling and day nursery for children of working mothers. Assistance League believes women not be denied the privilege of giving active service to others because of age. The purpose stated by the founder "To act as a friend at any and all times to men, women, and children in need of care, guidance and assistance spiritually, materially and physically."
