Testimonials
Mention Assistance League of Greeley and the Greeley/Weld County community will know what organization you are speaking of. Many have also heard of, worked with or been touched by one of the service based programs designed to help those most in need.
When the Gualdalupe Shelter, Greeley, asked if we would expand our giving to provide bedding for their new "Cold Weather Shelter," the volunteers expanded the Warm Up Weld program to provide bedding, sheets and pillows for them this winter! "When a need arises in the community we try to be there to serve!" reports Carolyn Berhdardt-Jones, prior President.
Zoe King became a widow in her 20's. Her mother, a Cuban-exile told her that "education is the one thing that no one can take away from you." Zoe studies with her daughter every night and sets a 4.0 GPA standard in her household. Zoe said "The Single-Parent Scholarship has made education a reality... and the Greeley Assistance League has been a blessing for my family of two, and I am so grateful every day that I get to go to class because a group of women believe in me and support me in my goal to make something of my life. I could not do it without them."
One program that has a huge impact, but goes unnoticed is the Assault Survivor Kits®. A nurse at North Colorado Medical Center, Banner Health, said, "Patients are so grateful for the replacement clothing! We receive 'Thank you's,' but the thanks really belong to your program and volunteers of Assistance League. This program is VERY appreciated."
Color Me Weld's positive effects in the emergency room have expanded to the entire hospital. Children who are injured, scared or in need of comfort are given crayons, a coloring book or Etch-a-Sketch to keep them busy and distracted. The nurses say the looks on the children's faces are "priceless." You can help these children through the often scary, painful and traumatic times in the hospital!
Time and again our volunteers who work at the Bargain Box hear "Thank you for being here. Thank you for having such good clothing at low cost. Thank you Thank you..."
Our shoppers know that they can find quality merchandise at low prices that help them and help our programs. Customers appreciate the prices and quality and we appreciate our customers!
We also appreciate you, our community, who donates to the Bargain Box to keep our store filled with quality goods. Your donations are invaluable to the services we provide.
You can help make a difference in your community by donating through the Assistance League of Greeley. These stories can't happen without you, please help us with your generous donation. And then please check out the other Greeley/Weld non-profits! We help each other!
