BBCR is an all-breed, all age, all health, rescue! We rescue dogs from all walks and stages of life and work hard to provide them with the medical and emotional care they need to succeed! BBCR is 100% volunteer run and is shelter and foster based. Big or small, we love them all!
"I love how BBCR truly tries to help ALL dogs no matter how big the price tag will be for their care. As a foster, I love the fact that we are trusted to know what is best for our dogs and we have say in who adopts our dogs and if we just have a bad feeling about a potential adopter that is respected. We don't just go based off a waiting list like a lot of rescues but instead truly look at who will be the best match. We work together as volunteers to help each other out constantly. We are a family!" - Cara Domer
"As an adopter I love how BBCR took the the time to get to know me and what dog would be a match. They were patient and encouraging that the right dog would come along and sure enough he did. I wouldn't change a single thing about the adoption process or the people who helped us add a family member." - Kelsey Hammond
"BBCR is unlike any other rescue because of the leadership which is 100% centered around what is best for the dogs. Kristie (and their team of dog loving volunteers) attracts amazing dog lovers and together they drive unprecedented support and execution from a passion filled energy that sets BBCR apart. They welcome and appreciate volunteers, and do a great job keeping the focus on saving lives in a positive environment. I am amazed by all BBCR accomplishes with 100% volunteer based resources. I am grateful to be a part of something so impressive and have mad respect for the leadership and all they do to make saving lives fun and rewarding for us all! THANK YOU AND RESCUE ON" - Amy Ford
"I love BBCR because they actually treat every dog, every person and every adoption as an individual case. When I applied to adopt my dog I may not have made the cut by some other rescue's standards of previous ownership or my age, maybe my house wasn't quite big and nice enough, or I didn't live quite close enough, I was fresh out of college etc. ... but the people who run this organization actually got to know me and saw how much I wanted to rescue a dog and when the right dog came around matched us and he is my WORLD. I know no one could love Gatsby more than I do and I can't imagine my life without him." - Jannah Din
"I love that time and time again Big Bones does the right thing. It doesn't matter if it's a dog who will need multiple surgeries or an old soul who needs a loving home. They truly care about all dogs, not just the shiny and fluffy. I have fostered several special needs dogs and Big Bones always provides the support I need to make sure the dogs are well taken care of. While it can be emotionally challenging and rewarding, I couldn't do what I do if I didn't whole heartedly believe in the organization I foster for." - Christine Marxhausen
Big Bones Canine Rescue Service, Inc.'s mission is to rescue and provide temporary or permanent shelter for all breeds of dogs that find themselves surrendered, unwanted, abandoned, and/or abused. It is our goal to provide an adoption service and information on the care and treatment of all canines to adopters.
Big Bones Canine Rescue Service, Inc. was founded in 2013 by Kristie Fisher. Kristie operated a boarding facility and over the years found herself rescuing a dog here and there. Eventually she decided to convert her boarding facility into a rescue facility. What started out small has now grown into a 600 plus volunteer network rescuing over thousands of dogs per year.
