Double Your Impact When You Help Fund a Bird City Coordinator Position

Imagine a city where birds thrive alongside humans. A place where urban development harmonizes with nature. This is the vision of the Bird City Network—a collaboration between Environment for the Americas and the American Bird Conservancy.

We need your support to bring this vision to life.

Why We Need You

Becoming a Bird City means more than just preserving natural spaces—it means creating vibrant, eco-conscious communities. Our coordinators motivate cities and communities across the Americas to:

  • Preserve Natural Spaces: Ensure that urban development includes green spaces vital for birds.
  • Mitigate Dangers: Reduce threats to birds by addressing hazards like glass buildings and harmful lighting.
  • Protect Migratory Paths: Safeguard the routes that migrating birds depend on.
  • Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day: Engage communities in celebrating and learning about these incredible creatures.
  • Educate the Public: Spread awareness through on-the-ground public education about the importance of bird conservation.

Double Your Impact

Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous member, the first $2,500 will be matched dollar for dollar. That means your contribution will go twice as far in helping us reach our $6,000 goal.

You Are Making a Difference

Join us in transforming cities into sanctuaries for birds and wildlife. Every donation counts, every dollar helps, and every supporter makes a difference. Together, we are building cities that nurture both people and birds.

You can become a part of this inspiring initiative. Help us create a world where every city is a Bird City.

Thank you for your support!

Testimonials

"The impact of becoming a Bird City will be immeasurable: people working with conservation will feel more empowered and the population will feel more responsible for bird care. Most importantly, children will be born in Brazil’s first Bird City and will proudly carry this flag, being ambassadors for birds throughout their lives.”

-Bruno Lima, our partner in Peruibe, Brazil, comments on the country's first Bird City established in October 2024.

"Being part of a diversity conservation corps and being surrounded by people that look like me, that have had similar experiences, made me feel like I belonged…This [internship] experience shaped me to be a more confident and prepared emerging leader in conservation."

-Diana Rodriguez, Crew Lead 2023 -Saguaro National Park

"Environment for the Americas has the quality education materials we've been looking for."

Mission

Environment for the Americas is committed to connecting diverse people to nature and bird conservation. We lead global partnerships focused on bird conservation and protecting migratory species and their habitats across borders. We achieve our goals through partnerships and by supporting the next generation of conservationists with education, outreach, and valuable opportunities.

Background Statement

At Environment for the Americas (EFTA), we firmly believe that each person plays a role in safeguarding our planet's precious bird populations and the ecosystems that support them. Our efforts extend into diverse communities, nurturing a profound respect for nature.

When you support EFTA, you're not just providing financial assistance; you're contributing to a legacy that transcends borders and cultures. Your generosity fuels initiatives like World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD), hummingbird research, and monarch butterfly preservation. Your contributions pave the way for environmental stewardship that will empower meaningful change.

We have so much to be thankful for, and together, we can make an even bigger impact this season of giving. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to Environment for the Americas. Your generous gift will directly support conservation and education programs, including:

-Engaging internships that empower diverse early-career professionals in natural resources and related fields

-Creating and distributing bird education materials to hundreds of partners across the Americas

-Developing strategic conservation plans to benefit migratory hummingbirds, shorebirds, and other key species

-Providing trainings, webinars, and valuable learning opportunities

Thank you for investing in the future of conservation through Environment for the Americas. You are the reason we can continue our work, and with your support, we can achieve even more!
