Why is Campus Ministry Important?

College for most students is the first time they are away from their families and confronted with complete freedom to make their own decisions. The college experience is full of new beginnings and explorations which can be both positive and negative. Here are some staggering statistics about college students:

1. 65% of college students begin college as a Christian and leave without a faith
2. More than 50% of college students drink alcohol on a regular basis including binge drinking
3. 31% of students report missing class due to drugs or alcohol
4. 22% of students report failing an exam or essay due to drugs and alcohol
5. More than 25% of students suffer from a sexual transmitted disease 

Campus ministry serves as a guide during the college experience to help students grow in faith and intellect as well as form lasting friendships and enjoy this unique time in their lives. Saint John XXIII was built in 1969 to provide Campus Ministry at Colorado State University. This Campus Ministry was named Ram Catholic.Ram Catholic is fully committed to providing a unique, positive, and memorable option during CSU student’s college experience and ensuring that students will enter their communities and home parishes as crucial and positively influential members.
