Background Statement
The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910. The history of the Adventure West Council:
ADVENTURE WEST COUNCIL HISTORY
February 16, 1924: First recorded meeting to organize the Council.
April 10, 1924: Application for Council charter filed. Called the Greeley District Council, then changed to Weld-Morgan Council.
January 31, 1928: Name changed to Northeastern Colorado Council.
December 28, 1928: Scout Executive reported 25 Nebraska troops formerly registered through the Cheyenne Office have been turned over to a new Western Nebraska Council.
May 28, 1942: Council was incorporated as a Colorado corporation.
April 1, 1975 : Wyo-Braska Area Council merged with Longs Peak Council.
January 1987: Council volunteer structure changed to include a Board of Trustees.
2018: admitted girls into the Cub Scout program
2019: admitted girls into the Boy Scout program.
May 1, 2021: The Greater Wyoming Council and the Longs Peak Council merged to create the Greater Wyoming - Longs Peak Council.
January 1, 2022: The Greater Wyoming - Longs Peak Council became the Adventure West Council.
