Testimonials

The Club has given me the opportunity to do some really cool things that I don't think I would've done otherwise. Outdoor Adventures is one of my favorite programs because we've explored Turquoise Mines and gone on backpacking trips and other adventures that push us and help us learn more about ourselves. It's nice to know the staff is here for us and wants to give us the best experience.

My favorite part about the Club is the Teen Room. The staff lets us express ourselves and have a say in our experience. I've been given leadership opportunities and other experiences that have helped me in school, with friends and helped me learn more about myself. The club is important to me because it is a safe place to learn and have fun.

Mission

"To ensure that all children and youth of the San Luis Valley, especially those who need us most are offered opportunities to realize their full potential as responsible, caring, and productive citizens in a richly diverse world."

Background Statement

In 1988 on Martin Luther King Day a group of Alamosa high school students petitioned the local government for an after school gathering place. It took several years of research and planning and in 1992 the first Alamosa Boys & Girls Club was organized with approximately 100 members.

Over the 25 years that have passed since the organization of the first Boys & Girls Club in Alamosa, membership has grown to well over 2000! Our facilities have also changed with the construction of our building at 1115 10th Street in Alamosa in 2002.
