Your donation will support dogs most in need.  In recent years the number of dogs in need has grown exponentially with almost 400,000 sweet, loving, HEALTHY, deserving dogs euthanized in shelters each year.  Brighter Days rescue's over 350 dogs who have been abandoned and neglected. We have a passion for assisting dogs with special needs and seniors who find themselves abandoned in shelters when they need humans the most.  These are the ones who are usually overlooked because of the financial undertaking of a senior/special needs dog needing medical attention.  We proudly give them a chance to live out their lives being showered with love and all the medical attention they need to live comfortably.  We strive to get most of them to place where they can be adopted, but many of them spend the remainder of their lives here in our hospice program if their needs are just too great.  Our goal for 2025 is to double the amount of special needs/senior dogs our program takes in, but we can only do that with the support from out community.  For stories and updates on many of our special needs/senior dogs please visit out social media pages (facebook and instagram).

Testimonials

"For the past 3 years I have had the privilege of being a foster for Brighter Days Dog Rescue. Brighter Days is a Boulder based non-profit that rescues over 400 dogs per year. In addition to fostering dogs, I help review applications to ensure that every dog goes to a home that is a perfect fit for their needs. Brighter Days volunteers work tirelessly to bring dogs out of tragic situations, and then via the foster system, helps them develop into the dog they are truly meant to be. An example of when Brighter Days went above and beyond was when they rescued Duke off the streets of New Mexico. When I first fostered him, Duke hid in the back of the kennel. He would shake, cry and pee himself when anyone approached. We gave him love, patience and attention and after a few short weeks, Duke confidently hiked, played with other dogs and interacted with all strangers. Duke transformed from a fearful puppy to a dog who loves life all because Brighter Days gave him a chance at a future. I am beyond grateful to be part of an organization. They positively change the lives of furry creatures and humans." Lassie Moore

Mission

The mission of Brighter Days Dog Rescue (BDDR) is to help the most vulnerable dogs - those who are about to be euthanized or have been abandoned - by providing them with transportation to Boulder County, where they receive health care, intensive behavioral training, foster care, and permanent homes. We have a passion for assisting dogs with special needs, the old and broken ones who rarely get a second look. These dogs are provided with medical assistance and placed in a hospice foster home until they pass away.

Background Statement

Brighter Days Dog Rescue received 501c3 nonprofit status in January 2017. We are based in Boulder, CO and rely on over 50 volunteers to provide foster care for rescued dogs. Each year we rescue over 400 dogs from high-kill shelters from neighboring states.

What sets BDDR apart from other rescue organizations is the commitment we make to each and every dog we rescue. Not only do we accept dogs that other rescue organizations reject because of their age, health, or temperament, BDDR's foster care program allows us to thoroughly assess and address each dog's needs before we begin the process of finding the dog a forever home. We believe this is an essential step to minimizing the re-homing process for these dogs that have already been traumatized by neglect, abuse, and/or abandonment.

Brighter Days Dog Rescue (BDDR) is committed to upholding and advocating for critical tenets of animal welfare such as spay/neuter, responsible pet ownership, non-discriminatory/breed-neutral policies, care for the sick and injured, hospice services, owner support services, and adoption.
