unded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2023, our mission is to make quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning accessible, inclusive and fun for students of all ages in Broomfield, CO and the neighboring communities. We partner with local STEM companies to connect students with STEM professionals who inspire them to pursue careers in STEM. We also work with local schools and non-profit organizations to reach students for whom quality STEM education may seem out of reach. Everything we do is driven by our core values of belonging, curiosity, collaboration, innovation and play. We believe that committing to our mission and values today will help build a stronger, more diverse STEM workforce for tomorrow. Therefore we strive to recruit and equip all students who have a passion for STEM, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, country of origin, language, or special learning needs. All are welcome in Broomfield STEM!

What We Do
Our flagship program, Broomfield Robotics, engages 115+ students in grades K-12 in age-appropriate, hands-on competitive robotics. Students in Broomfield Robotics are part of FIRST, an international organization that prepares students for a future in STEM. Mentored by more than 40 volunteer engineers, teachers and other qualified professionals, our students develop skills in teamwork, leadership, problem solving, mechanical design and assembly, CAD (Computer Aided Drafting), programming, technical writing, public speaking, business management, photography/videography, graphic design, and more. While the students focus on building innovative and competitive robots, the mentors are focused on helping students develop the skills they need to thrive now and in the future. As FIRST founder Dean Kamen says, “We are not using kids to build robots. We are using robots to build kids.”

How You Can Help
Demand for STEM education is rapidly growing in and around Broomfield. Boulder, Jefferson and Adams counties. In Broomfield, we are centrally located and draw students and mentors from all four counties and their respective school districts. We have just begun to scratch the surface of what is possible in terms of reach and impact, but we need additional financial support to do so.
Accessibility is one of our top priorities, and this means keeping our student fees as low as possible for our families, many of whom are struggling to make ends meet. We were able to fund scholarships for twenty percent of our students this year, but there was more demand for scholarships than we could meet. Student fees and donated scholarships cover approximately 50% of our operating expenses for the current year. Corporate sponsorships, donations and grants fund the remaining 50%.
As our program continues to grow, so does our need for space. Increased funding will allow us to rent additional dedicated spaces where we can offer a wider variety of STEM opportunities to students. We are seeking the financial support of donors and sponsors to make this possible expansion a reality. You can learn more about becoming a sponsor of Broomfield STEM on our website or from our Sponsorship Guide.
