Mission

We defend bullied children and help rebuild lives.

Background Statement

BRRC’s goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate bullying.

Bullying is at an all-time high. The most recent data from www.stopbullying.gov states over 20% of students ages 12-18 experience bullying nationwide. In 2022, there were 947,252 students between 12 and 18 years old in Colorado. According to statistics, over 189,000 were targets of bullying.

And according to the National Center for Educational Statistics, 46% of bullying is not reported.

BRRC’s family advocates are experts in providing immediate solutions for families impacted by bullying. We empower families across Colorado to advocate for their children who are targets of bullying by working 1:1 with caregivers to help them stop the bullying. The first priority is ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the children. Our advocates work directly with families through the entire resolution process. Sometimes this is one or several meetings with school officials. In other cases, we have worked with families for years through the process, providing legal and educational resources when needed. Our goal is to see our clients through - from target to recovery.

BRRC also aims to be a leader in a long-term solution that provides school districts with the tools necessary to identify and address bullying and reduce the harmful consequences for all.

We believe that all stakeholders in education - students, parents, teachers, school staff, administration, and school district officials - all want what is best for all students.

We passionately see a need to provide a solid education for all school officials about bullying, bullying prevention, how to intervene, and how to protect all children impacted by bullying. There is a dire need to close the gap between children who are impacted by bullying, and the school staff and officials who have the opportunity to identify and stop the bullying activity. A school that is properly armed with knowledge and provided with practical tools can create trust among the student body, thus closing the chasm that exists for bullied kids from the school personnel. The practical tools the CDE has available will be included in the instruction. The training of school administrators, teachers, staff, and school boards is an incredible opportunity to go upstream in the bullying cycle, building unity and better protecting all students.
