CSPC’s mission is to build power and support a movement in marginalized communities of families and childcare providers to change systems, build leaders, and train families and providers to be the strongest and best advocates for their children to succeed in school and beyond.

Background Statement

The background and focus of the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition (CSPC) is parent engagement in the education of their children. We understand that raising children requires the support for the entire family, and the child care providers that are a keystone in the families we work with. Parent involvement is one of the keys that opens the door for all children to succeed in schools. Ensuring that the child care providers that care for the children are equiped to provide early childhood educaiton is another vital key in making sure marginalized children enter school at the same level as their white or more affulent peers. CSPC developed Providers Advancing School Outcomes (PASO) where child care providers come together and learn in a linguistically and culturally responsive, non-threatening environment. The CSPC also provides training programs to school personnel and community members who are interested in making a difference in closing the academic opportunity gap, reduce the dropout rates and increase gradation rates for undeserved and underrepresented low-income children.
