Testimonials

"The past two years left me transformed in ways I have yet to comprehend, but the fruit of which I know will be manifesting throughout the rest of my life. I celebrate the vision and ministry of Cadence International and the Harbor Hospitality House. This community will always remain a place of invaluable investment and overwhelming impact." Kara, Cadence community member.

"The gospel-it is at the heart of everything we do in Cadence International. It is why we exist; why we send missionaries to military communities around the world; why we open our homes and our lives to them; why we provide hospitality, teach Bible studies, lead retreats and youth groups, disciple, counsel, and mentor. It is also why we clean, cook, run errands, attend to finances and administration, adjust to local and military cultures, and endure the daily mundane tasks necessary to live in this broken world." Cadence President, David Schroeder

Mission

The mission of Cadence International is to share the gospel and our lives with the military community.

Background Statement

Cadence International was established in 1954 as the Overseas Christian Servicemen's Center (OCSC) by a group of Christian ex-servicemen. Our mission is to share the gospel and our lives with the military community. Since 1954, we have been doing just that with U.S. armed forces throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States through hospitality, Bible studies, evangelism, and discipleship. Cadence Student Ministries, the youth division of Cadence, was established in 1981 and reaches out to military dependent youth. In 1992 OCSC began serving foreign military with the Philippines Christian Servicemen's Center and in 1994 with the Lands of Russia ministry. OCSC changed its name to Cadence International in 1994 to reflect its broadened ministry.

Today, our ministry of hospitality to American armed forces and their families takes place in 48 hospitality houses/centers around the world. They can be found in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, mainland Japan, Okinawa, Korea, England, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Our Foreign Armed Forces ministry serves military communities and security forces in Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia with a vision of expanding to all of Southeast Asia. In addition, student and children ministry staff reach out to military dependents and their family.
