CASA of the Ninth

A nonprofit organization

100% complete

$10,000 Goal

As a small non-profit, we rely on the support of caring people in our community as we give a voice to children who have been abused, neglected, or witnessed domestic violence in Pitkin, Garfield, and Rio Blanco counties. Monetary donations qualify for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit.

Testimonials

Longitudinal studies have shown that children with a CASA spend on average 8 months less in foster care than children without a CASA volunteer, are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system, more likely to be adopted, and more likely to have a plan for permanency. Simply put, children with a CASA are more likely to find a safe, permanent home.

Mission

Our mission is to provide well-trained, court-appointed volunteer advocates to abused and neglected children in Colorado's 9th Judicial District. The program's vision is to support a safe, permanent, nurturing home for every child it serves.

Background Statement

CASA of the Ninth was formed in October 2011 by community members who realized the voice of children in Dependency & Neglect cases was lacking. CASA of the Ninth is one of the 18 CASA organizations that make up Colorado CASA, which in turn is a member of National CASA. We are able to use these coalitions for resources, including marketing materials, standardized training materials, continuing education, and best practices. We were able to expand to serve children in Rio Blanco County in April 2018.
