Chaffee County Search and Rescue – South (CCSAR-S) is a 100% unpaid volunteer organization serving the southern portion of Chaffee County, Colorado. With twelve mountains over 14,000 feet in elevation, Chaffee County is often called the "Home of the Fourteeners." Our volunteer members have a common desire to help others who are lost or hurt in the backcountry serving hikers, hunters, skiers, mountain bikers, children, and elderly citizens. Our organization operates on funding that has been donated from the public, grants, and fundraisers like Colorado Gives. Our team is typically called out on missions sixty or more times yearly. These missions are often in rugged mountain terrain and occur during all seasons and weather conditions. We are raising funds to improve and provide uniforms and equipment for our growing volunteer team. |
