Background Statement
Established in 2012, Christ Clinic provides primary medical care to members of our community without any qualifications to schedule an appointment and with no cost to the patient. In recent years, clinic providers have facilitated about 700 annual appointments for 250-300 unique individuals. This includes young adults; families with children; and adults with chronic diseases who are not yet eligible for Medicare. Most Christ Clinic patients come from Fort Collins and Loveland, with a small contingent from Greeley and the surrounding area.
Current rates of uninsured persons in our area are reported as high as 18%; additionally, about one-third of Larimer County residents report having no primary care provider. Wait times for new patients to establish care with a provider can be as long as 4-6 months for those with traditional insurance, longer for un/underinsured patients.
To meet this need, our programming focuses on increasing access to high-quality, affordable care in a timely manner and decreasing barriers to care for patients to receive needed ongoing and additional services. This includes gender- and age-appropriate preventive and mental health screenings, increasing access to care in an appropriate timeframe for patients desiring to be seen, and early detection and delayed disease progression of chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes. Additionally, clinic services are working to integrate physical and mental health assessments in one visit, providing more equitable healthcare services in line with current standards of primary care practice.
