Colorado AMP provides after-school music and band programming to local kids and teens, both in our professional-grade space in Arvada, and through in-school programs across the metro area. By teaching kids how to play instruments in a band, write compositions and learn about the music industry, we can build bonds between participants that make them more successful in school and in their lives. Our program is for kids who are musically-minded, musically-inclined or just musically-curious.

We use a professional facility in Arvada with a built-in music lab, recording studio, practice rooms and a performance space to educate our youth and give them a comfortable place to explore and invent.  We run summer camps, spring break camps, after-school programs, individual lessons, group lessons and more. Instruments are provided so that those in need can learn, even if they don't have an instrument.  We keep our costs low for all families, but sliding scale fees and full scholarships are an option for families in financial need so that no one is excluded from the musical experience.

Here is what just a few of our Colorado AMP families and parents had to say:

"This was a highlight in our daughter's summer! She met a great group of kids and it pushed her out of her comfort zone. It also exposed her to new music that she might not have otherwise explored."

"We were very highly impressed with the way the children were taught & how they really seemed to enjoy being a part of a group/band."

Giving Activity

Mission

The Colorado After-school Music Program (AMP) provides preteens and teens with the opportunity to learn the skills needed to become a professional musician. Students will learn to play various instruments, music theory, ear-training, individual and group performance, recording and production, music history and more.

Background Statement

Colorado AMP launched in November 2021. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized that it was more important than ever to bring kids together and in-person, to create music and foster relationships.

Our desire to bring kids together in meaningful and creative interactions, driven by our Executive Director's love of music, sparked the creation of Colorado AMP, a program that provides music education and opportunities to play as a band to local kids after-school, regardless of family income or background.
