The Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. serves and supports our community through education, conservation, horticulture and landscape design.

Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc (CFGC) is raising money to help fund our gardening, environmental, landscape, and floral arts educational classes, programs, speakers, and awards and grants for local garden clubs to promote their community projects and educational programs.

CFGC is made up of passionate and dedicated volunteers who share the common goal of promoting gardening and environmental responsibility in Colorado. We believe that through education, outreach, and community involvement, we can make a positive impact on our state and the world.

We believe that gardening is not only a hobby, but a way of life. We strive to connect gardeners of all levels and interests through our events, workshops, and educational programs.

One of our local garden clubs helped design, install and update gardens throughout the Ronald McDonald House property and added a vegetable garden this year to provide fresh herbs and veggies for residents.

Another garden club designed, installed and planted four raised garden beds at the local homeless shelter. The chef is enjoying cooking with fresh vegetables for the residents of the shelter.

One garden club teamed up with Family Connects to build a sensory garden for children receiving mental health services at a local facility.

The Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. (CFGC) offers an annual scholarship for students majoring in a variety of environment and horticulture related fields.

Many of the local garden clubs plant and maintain public garden spaces in their communities. The garden clubs also participate in various programs such as Plant America - Feed America, Plant America - Plant 4 Pollinators, Plant America - Plant 4 Wildlife, Blue and Gold Star Memorials and Plant-A-Tree.  Club contributions to Plant-A-Tree help the Forest Service to plant trees across the national forest system where reforestation is needed most—the places most impacted by wildfires, flooding, drought, and other forest disturbances.

Background Statement

Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. was organized in 1937 to operate as a nonprofit solely for the benevolent, charitable, scientific and educational purposes conducive to the well being of the community and useful to the public. Our purpose is to aid in the protection and conservation of beauty and the natural resources of the state, furthering education in horticulture, conservation, and landscape design through gift scholarships and grants. Four different courses are offered to the public to aid in the education of Gardening Study, Landscape Design, Environmental Studies and Flower Show Design. Members have worked closely with the USDA Forest Service in Colorado on several planting and education projects including Operation Wildflower and Penny Pines. CFGC was instrumental in the protection of the mountain Fens through state-wide education and publicity. We have provided Teacher Scholarships for environmental education through the Soil Conservation Agency and were heavily involved financially and personally with the Grow With the Platte initiative.
