While the number of felines dying in US shelters continues to decrease, the number killed is still astronomical. Cats and kittens are the highest at-risk population of homeless pets. Our goal is to save as many as we possibly can, taking from underserved communities and finding them permanent homes.

Testimonials

FROM FOSTERS:

"Our family has been fostering moms and kittens for over a year and it has been very rewarding! We have taught our sons (2 and 5) to be very patient and gentle to the kittens which not only benefits the kids with taking care of animals but prepares the kittens for their forever homes! My son is already thinking of the Veterinary world. My husband however always falls in love with the momma cats. The momma cats are typically very sweet and always follow him around. I love hearing the success stories from the forever homes and the rewarding feeling of raising the kittens and nurturing the moms."
- Danielle H.

"I started fostering to honor my sassy tuxedo cat Lark who passed away in August 2019. I love bringing cats and kittens into my home and I see a little bit of Lark in every one! I feel a special bond with all my fosters and I love watching them grow and their personalities develop. Saying goodbye once they are adopted is hard, but knowing I helped them along their path to their forever home makes it all worth it!"
- Erin C.

"I LOVE fostering because there is nothing better than to hold in your lap and snuggle with several purring kittens. The next best thing is sitting on the floor in a room with several kittens that are running, chasing, wrestling, and playing with toys; and being totally silly kittens. It does not matter who you are or what life is dishing out to you that day or month or year, they bring you great laughter and make you feel completely loved. They are the love of my life, all 271 that I have fostered; I look forward to more."
- Laura W.

FROM ADOPTERS:

Alyssa Landers
I am so impressed with this rescue. We are currently in the process of adopting and bringing home one of the kittens from their page and everything has been so smooth. Everyone that I have interacted with, including the foster, has been so helpful and kind throughout the process. I had put in a few applications for kitties elsewhere and still haven't heard back (nobody's fault, Covid made things weird)! This rescue, however, has great response time! Everything has truly been a breeze and we are excited for our tiny sweetheart to come home! Thank you so much, CFFR! <3

Lisa Dewall
Great organization to help kitties and humans unite. The team is friendly and works hard to find forever homes for the cats that come to them. I love that the cats are in fosters while waiting for their future home, rather than a shelter.

Kris B
CFFR is a quality fostering program. Because they use fosters, the cats a very well socialized. I needed to go to more than one foster home to find the right fit but Cari was very helpful in connecting me to fosters so I could set up meet times. CFFR is a great deal too. I got my kittens during a "sale" but I paid $140 for 2 kittens that were neutered/spayed, chipped and had their shots. They make sure the cats are healthy and happy so they can have the smoothest transition to their new home. I am glad I went with CFFR. Thank you for the best new family members.

Pam Sweetser
Fostering-to-adopt our two new kitties from CFFR has been such a GREAT experience from the get-go! Cari, Kris, Heidi - everyone in the organization was responsive, helpful, kind, and made the whole process so fun and easy. And our kitties are a joy - so well socialized and happy thanks to CFFR! Highly recommend!

Cynthia Tullis
I am so appreciative of this organization! Little Thor, now named Sharpie, is the sweetest kitten! We love him so much! The application process was a breeze and had a super quick turnaround. The ladies were easy to work with and the communication was excellent. It was a great experience with a great outcome. Thank you for what you are doing!!

Mission

Colorado Feline Foster Rescue is an all volunteer, all foster-based 501(c)(3), whose mission is to find permanent homes for cats and kittens via a network of foster caregivers, and to provide foster education and training to the feline rescue community.

Background Statement

In July of 2020, three cat-loving women saw a need for a scalable foster-based feline rescue who would work with adult cats and kittens - those that many rescues would not accept because of medical issues. Colorado Feline Foster Rescue (CFFR), a 501(c)(3), was founded with about 50 fosters who followed our president from her previous rescue, believing in our mission. Most of our fosters have many years of experience in fostering - attending to medical needs of cats and kittens in their care.

While in her past role, our president established relationships with BARC (City of Houston's Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility), RPM (Rescued Pet Movement), and Pampa Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The goal was to provide foster and necessary medical care to help reduce the euthanasia rate at the partner rescues (both local and out of state.) We currently work with RPM every week, Pampa every 2 weeks and also on occasion with Parmer Paws, Humane Society of Deaf Smith County, Friends of Texas Panhandle Shelter Pets, Noah's Ark Animal Shelter, Montrose Animal Shelter, Humane Society of South Platte Valley, and once in a while a miscellaneous local rescue who needs to place a cat with medical needs they cannot address. Our veterinarian, Dr. Kerry Madole, together with our CVT, Ruth Brunner, handle all of our more advanced medical needs. The cats are transported either by ground or by air by Pilots and Paws. We are licensed by PACFA.

We currently have 70+ foster families, with an average of 4 years of fostering experience, who work with kittens and 15+ who work with adults. We are currently working on building our adult foster program, as there is still such a need for adult fosters who are more experienced and able to attend to the higher socialization needs the adult cats sometimes require.

In our first 12 months, we took in 848 felines, and finalized 700 successful adoptions!
