Background Statement
24 years ago the two founders of our school started to look around for schools for young people who hadn't found success in a traditional educational setting.
They looked at a few options, but decided they could do it better themselves. At the time there were no charter schools. So they created a private school and raised money by knocking on doors and asking everyone they knew. In 2004 Colorado High School Charter became one of the very first charter schools in Denver and is the oldest charter high school and oldest alternative charter high school in Denver.
As a charter school CHSC was able to serve more and more students and the founders could focus less on fund raising and more on making CHSC the best it could be.
Since then CHSC has touched thousands of lives, graduated hundreds of students and continues to change lives every day. Today it is the top-ranked alternative education campus in Denver Public Schools and is a "green" school.
