Colorado High School Charter

A nonprofit organization

Help us establish a year-round Food Bank for our students; many live with food insecurity. And we are renovating our recently purchased GES campus building, transforming it into a state-of-the-art school. Contributions to our capital fund allow us to preserve our savings and retire our debt.

Testimonials

"My oldest graduated from CHSC and it was the best decision we made! My youngest is already registered and will be attending in the fall!"

"I think the staff here is great. They try to work with the kids. My son doesn't like school but at least he gets up and goes here. He also said he likes it better than his old school."

Mission

Colorado High School Charter is transforming the alternative education experience by igniting the potential within each of the diverse young people we serve. CHSC ensures students' personal and academic growth by creating tailored curricula, a supportive school environment, and community partnerships. We empower our students to succeed in life and positively contribute to their families and communities by offering them the freedom and resources to pursue a post-secondary path aligned with their individualized goals

Background Statement

24 years ago the two founders of our school started to look around for schools for young people who hadn't found success in a traditional educational setting.

They looked at a few options, but decided they could do it better themselves. At the time there were no charter schools. So they created a private school and raised money by knocking on doors and asking everyone they knew. In 2004 Colorado High School Charter became one of the very first charter schools in Denver and is the oldest charter high school and oldest alternative charter high school in Denver.

As a charter school CHSC was able to serve more and more students and the founders could focus less on fund raising and more on making CHSC the best it could be.

Since then CHSC has touched thousands of lives, graduated hundreds of students and continues to change lives every day. Today it is the top-ranked alternative education campus in Denver Public Schools and is a "green" school.
