Background Statement
Since its inception in 1996, the PGA REACH Colorado Foundation has worked daily to support our over 900 Colorado PGA of America Golf Professionals to make a difference in our local communities through the lens of the game of golf. Programming tries to ensure that regardless of your age or background, cost will never inhibit one’s involvement and enjoyment of the game of golf. The mission of the PGA REACH Colorado Foundation is to positively impact the lives of youth, military, and diverse populations by enabling access to PGA of America Golf Professionals, the Colorado PGA Section, and the game of golf.
We accomplish this mission through programming across our three pillars of work:
Youth Development: We introduce kids to the sport early to provide opportunities that enhance education, health and wellness, and character building. PGA REACH Colorado Foundation youth programming ensures that cost doesn’t prohibit youth from entering the sport and will serve as a central role in the golf industry’s effort to introduce the sport to youth of all ages and backgrounds in a safe, fun environment.
Supporting our Military: We seek to improve the physical, mental, and social rehabilitation of our military heroes and their families through the sport of golf as they transition back into civilian life.
Inclusion: We work every day at the Colorado PGA to have our commitment to inclusion resonate throughout the organization, the activities, programs, and business we conduct. We strive to look through a lens of inclusion at all times. As PGA REACH Colorado Foundation serves its community and grows participation in golf, we help drive the awareness that golf is affordable, welcoming, and fun for all individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, ability, background, or lifestyle.
At the heart of these three pillars are five guiding principles:
1. Golf is a game for all and should be seen that way.
2. Introduction to the game at a young age can improve and advance opportunities for youth.
3. Golf is an excellent rehabilitation tool for military veterans and active personnel.
4. Make golf inclusive of people from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds and for individuals with disabilities.
5. Golf promotes family values, health, wellness, and fitness and leads to productive citizenship.
