Mission

Colorado Reptile Humane Society works to improve the lives of reptiles and amphibians in captivity and in the wild through education and action.

We accomplish our mission by:

--Providing shelter and proper husbandry while securing loving permanent homes for the animals entrusted to our care;

--Providing captive care education to the public;

--Participating in conservation efforts locally and internationally; and

--Engaging in rehabilitation and release of native species.

Background Statement

History of CoRHS

CoRHS was started in 1997, primarily a green iguana rescue located in Boulder.

It quickly became apparent that all pet-trade reptiles were in need of sheltering, and Colorado Reptile Rescue was officially founded as a 501c3 non-profit in 1998.

In 1999, we moved from Boulder to the City of Longmont.

In 2001, we moved to the outskirts of Longmont where we presently operate on 4 acres with spacious outside pens for turtles and tortoises.

In 2004, we changed our name to Colorado Reptile Humane Society, to better reflect our ongoing mission of sheltering reptiles.
