Background Statement
Founded in 1977 as a civic children's choir, the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale (CSCC) has grown from a single choir of 25 children to four choirs with more than 200 members from 50 schools representing nine school districts throughout the Pikes Peak region. Each singer is auditioned for membership and regular evaluations determine his or her placement within the organization.
Located in Colorado Springs, CSCC serves the entire Pikes Peak Region, including the mountain towns of Teller County, the eastern plains regions of the state, the Tri-Lakes area at our northern-most end; and Widefield, Fountain, and Security to the south which includes a large military population. We are proud to serve a broad demographic in the community through concerts, workshops and residencies in all school districts; involvement in organizations such as the Pikes Peak Arts Council, Imagination Celebration, the Woodland Park Arts Alliance, the CS Sister City Committee, and the CS Diversity Forum. In 2014 the CSCC spearheaded the formation of a new community group called The CHORALaborative-an unprecedented collaboration of 10 choral arts organizations serving the Pikes Peak region that is still operating successfully.
CSCC presents two major concerts at the Pikes Peak Center and over 100 smaller concerts, workshops and other training sessions each year. Our outreach programs are central to our contribution to the community and include the School Blitz, Adopt A District and School Partnership Programs, Tuition Assistance, the Southern Colorado In Harmony Festival, Satellite programs, the Generations Initiative, and a Colorado touring program that reaches out to rural communities throughout the state.
