Testimonials

How did we get so lucky to have Fezzik in our family?  This big, lovable giant needed a home and we tried fostering but he refused to leave. : ) Working with CSBR (Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue) since we adopted our first big dog over 15 years ago, Fezzik is our most recent family member.

CBSR saves the lives of many large dogs, not only Saint Bernards, but SB mixes as well (which we highly recommend).  Spending resources and funds on medical needs and matching fosters and adopters with loveable pets to get them to a loving family, CSBR is an excellent choice for animal lover on Colorado Gives Day!

So many Saints, so many stories, so many rescues. I’ve been involved with CSBR through a number of fosters and six adoptions and can state with confidence that they are on the front line of compassion and rescue. The drive to save lives is unstoppable. More often than not, the dog’s background storeis are not known- they typically are simply dumped and left to fend for themselves. But we do have the story on my most recent sweetheart, PeteyPablo... He came to our attention when he was posted as “free” on Craigslist in TX. CSBR located him and found a 5 month old puppy, crated and starved. He was nutritionally impoverished and lacked the muscle tone to walk. An extreme case of neglect, he was quickly whisked into an intake then foster homes. He’ now a member of our pack- a bright eyed, strong, intelligent boy full of spit vigor.

I don’t dare imagine what might have happened to him had CSBR not quickly gotten him out of that horrible situation and into their loving care and support. I am forever grateful

Mission

Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue(CSBR) is a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rehoming of unwanted, neglected, abandoned and abused St. Bernards and St. Bernard mixes.

Background Statement

The Colorado Saint Bernard Rescue was started in 1998 by Nina Washington to save the Saint Bernards that were in shelters. At that time, the shelters would euthanize dogs within a few days. Nina reached out to animal lovers to help volunteer and/or foster. Since that time, CSBR has adopted hundreds of Saint Bernards, Saint Bernard mixes, and honorary Saints into loving homes. We don't turn down dogs based on medical needs, and regularly take dogs who require expensive surgeries or treatments (including total hip replacements and heart worm treatment) as well as dogs that have behavioral needs.
