Colorado Gives Day is a reminder that individual donors – people like you - are powerful forces for good which allows Colorado Village Collaborative to provide transformative shelter and services that bridge people from the streets to stable housing.
OVER THE PAST SEVEN YEARS, Colorado Village Collaborative has been dedicated to providing shelter, support, and hope to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness - and especially to those that have unique life experiences and are in vulnerable situations. The Metro Denver Homeless Initiative Point in Time count shows that Denver has over 6,000 PEH nightly, with more than 1,400 estimated as unsheltered. The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless highlights that economics is the driving factor behind why people experience homelessness, noting that the vast majority of people are experiencing homelessness because of loss of employment, the inability to pay rent or mortgage, or family dissolution, with more than 30,000 people accessing homeless services in the metro area. Now, having served over 1000 people experiencing homelessness and facilitating the transition to stable housing for more than 500 individuals, we're calling on our generous community to help us continue r mission with even greater impact. With your support during Colorado Gives and the year end giving season, we can expand our reach, improve our facilities, and offer expanded case management and peer support to those experiencing homelessness.
WHY DONATE? The proof is in our model. Based on decades of research, shelter-first programs are proven to be more effective at reducing homelessness and improving stability compared to traditional models. Recognizing that these traditional settings may be challenging for individuals who have experienced prolonged homelessness, our programs emphasize the importance of providing environments that prioritize autonomy and balance shelter with supportive services through the lens of human-centered and trauma-informed care. Our sites offer regular meals, access to hygiene facilities, safety and security for both the individual and their belongings, and the freedom to come and go as needed, allowing individuals to focus on various aspects of their lives, such as accessing healthcare, exploring housing options, or seeking employment.
