Your gift today is creating a kinder, safer, more hopeful world for at-risk horses.
Established in 1986, Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) is proud to be the longest-standing horse rescue in the state. As such, CHR has a long legacy of making a tangible difference in the number of at-risk horses and the safe solutions available to them.
Horses arrive to CHR from a variety of circumstances - private owners, animal control seizures, fellow rescue transfers, retirement from dude ranches through The Annie Project, the local livestock auction, and more. Your gift gives the deserving horses we serve the opportunity to heal emotionally and physically, receive necessary training, and be a part of CHR's robust foster and adoption programs to eventually find their forever home.
Through the support of generous donors like YOU, CHR is pioneering innovative programs to support horses in transition and keep them out of unsafe or unkind hands.
We are Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR), and we are building a better future for horses. We see it. We believe in it. And we are here to make it happen. Every day, we choose to keep our eyes, minds, and gates open to what’s possible for the betterment of horses everywhere. We believe that it’s up to us – all of us - to create new traditions in the best interest of horses, humans, and the partnerships we share.
Background Statement
CHR was founded in 1986 to provide safety for abused and neglected horses. In 1988, CHR was officially established as a federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) impact organization and, in 2001, moved to its current 50-acre property in Longmont, CO. Today, the property regularly operates at full-capacity (with a waitlist) providing quality care for 60 horses.
