Midwifery As Support and The Need

Midwifery care has shown to improve outcomes for healthy, low risk parents. We provide homebirth and postpartum care as well as free community groups and education to Boulder County and surrounding areas; all which serve to strengthen the well being of our community. Additionally, CRMC's sliding scale supports more people to access our care that would otherwise go without.

Midwives are trained professionals with expertise and skills in supporting pregnant people to maintain healthy pregnancies, facilitating optimal births and guiding recovery during the postpartum period. Midwifery is a person-centered, empowering model of health care that is utilized in all of the countries of the world that have the best maternal and infant outcomes.

Community Roots Midwives are nationally Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) trained in out-of-hospital care and are Registered Midwives (RMs) within the state of Colorado. The group of primary midwives is an intersectional group, allowing our community access to culturally congruent care.

Testimonials

Amy: Donor and Client of CRMC

"The CRMC midwives provided warm personalized care focused on me as a whole person. They listened to all of my needs and concerns to provide me with a perfect, personalized birth experience. Their practice is friendly and loving but also highly professional- they hold each other to the highest standards of safety and excellence in care. They provide excellence within their scope of practice. My whole family was welcome to join in preparing and celebrating the birth of our little girl. My kids were allowed to come with me to every visit an encouraged to be involved in their baby's sister's prenatal care, to their thrilled joy and excitement."

Jacki: Midwifery Service Fund (MSF) recipient

"I have always wanted a homebirth. The intimate, calm, loving environment a home birth encourages is such a beautiful way for a new life to enter the world.
When we first found out we were pregnant, I knew a homebirth was what I wanted. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and I found myself delivering my first baby in a cold, bright hospital room. This experience was traumatic and extremely disappointing. Too many hands held my new baby far too soon. There were entirely too many strangers and not nearly enough love. I was left feeling battered and broken as a woman and overwhelmingly saddened as a mother.

I am beyond grateful for the Community Roots Midwife Collective to have awarded me a grant from Midwifery Service Fund, so I could have a birth that not only healed me, but left me empowered and truly connected to my human life and femininity."

Callie: CRMC Client
"CRMC is a fabulous group of women who provided compassionate and professional care for me and my family. They each have a unique personality that I believe gives the group a strength in that they can connect with families in multifaceted ways. By doing so, I felt like my care was well rounded, professional, and deeply personal. Both elements are equally important during such a spiritual and pivotal time in a woman's life. We had a lovely homebirth, but the care we received help set the stage for me to be open and accept any outcome- knowing that we were well supported and safe."

Giving Activity

Mission

Community Roots Midwife Collective (CRMC) supports the health and well-being of pregnant people, families and those of reproductive age, by providing compassionate, high quality, and comprehensive midwifery care, through community building, education, and healthcare services, while striving to increase midwifery access for all.

Background Statement

CRMC was founded in 2016 by midwives motivated by the overall lack of available midwifery care, and specifically the health disparities for BIPOC, low-income, and other priority communities, while also seeing a need to offer reproductive education, community building, and resources to Boulder County, Colorado and surrounding area families.

As parents, midwives and community members, we experienced a desperate need for more support and sustainability to care for our own families and clients.

Through this lens, CRMC formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2019.
