Background Statement
In 2006, local early childhood stakeholders convened and agreed that a collaborative early childhood partnership was needed in Moffat and Rio Blanco counties. Through the passage of House Bill 06-1062, funds were made available to communities committed to establishing a comprehensive high-quality early childhood system.
Following the initial 2006 meeting, the Northwest Colorado Council for Children and Families, renamed Connections 4 Kids in 2010, was formed. Community stakeholders came together to create a strategic plan, bylaws and council infrastructure to facilitate early childhood systems-building work and create council capacity.
In 2013/2014 Connections 4 Kids applied to the IRS for a 501c3 designation and was grant the designation in October 2014. Connections 4 Kids established a Parent Education Center in January of 2016. We continually offer a variety of parent education classes to our communities.
