Background Statement
In 2010, as the STEM and energy industries faced a wave of retirements and a growing demand for advanced technology, the need for a stronger workforce pipeline became clear. The Consumer Energy Education Foundation (CEEF) was created to bridge the gap between education and careers by teaching students, families, and educators about STEM and energy opportunities.
Too often, students — especially those in underserved communities — lack access to STEM programs or awareness of the career paths these fields provide. CEEF works to remove those barriers through programs like Energy Day, STEM kits, and academic competitions that make science and energy concepts real and exciting.
Energy Day has become a cornerstone of CEEF’s work, awarding nearly $100,000 to students and teachers through scholarships and prizes while engaging thousands of families in hands-on STEM activities.
Today, CEEF continues to expand its reach, ensuring that all students — no matter their background — have the chance to explore STEM and imagine themselves as the innovators of tomorrow.
