The Creede Musical Arts Collective Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization (established March 1, 2022) located in Creede, CO. Spanning the infinite genres of Musical Arts, our mission is to contribute to & diversify the musical experiences available in the region by inviting prominent Musical Artists to share their talents in residency within the community through live performances and educational experiences.
Creede is already the home to a nationally recognized theater company and visual and mixed media Artists. It is our goal to partner with these institutions as the organization grows and evolves. We also wish to foster relationships between arts organizations and artists in Creede as well as artists and arts organizations in our region at large.
For our inaugural 2022 season, we began with an outstanding roster of artists, who joined us in Creede for two separate festival weekends and a fundraising soiree. Most of these artists performed with the Santa Fe Opera, our nation’s leading summer opera festival (just a 3 hour, scenic drive south) and began joyfully creating the aforementioned relationships with us throughout the region. We also hosted a Christmas Concert at the Creede Hotel & Restaurant, and a quintet from the Colorado Brass Band for a full day of pop-up concerts at the Creede Christmas Market.
In 2023, thanks to phenomenal support, we doubled our programming and budget to include three festival weekends, a co-production with the Creede Repertory Theatre, multiple children’s concerts, Masterclass/Working sessions with visiting Artists, a fundraising soiree, and a special thank you concert for our devoted donors. Plans are also in the works for our participation in the Creede Christmas Market again this year, as well as other year-round events.
We value accessibility- the Arts we’re cultivating here is inclusive; NEVER exclusive. This is why we’ve set the price of general admission for our ticketed events at $20, with other options FREE admission for children as resources become available.
Future proposed summer festival and year-long programming will grow to include extended residencies of musicians (offering them a retreat-like atmosphere to create, practice their craft & get out into the community) who will perform regular recitals, pop-up, variety hour-style concerts, work-in-progress open rehearsals, workshops of new compositions, tactile “inside the performance”-style programming specifically designed for school aged children in and out of the classroom, lessons for all ages and ability level, in all genres and concentrations. Cross-genre experimentation, creation and collaboration is not only be encouraged, but a driving force in why we do what we do!
