Testimonials

This school has really helped me a lot. The classes are smaller and the teachers really care about you. I am not so overwhelmed at this school and feel calmer in the classrooms with less kids. If you know another kid like me that needs help you should really send them to Crossroads.
--Ricky, Crossroads Student

The school staff offer the guidance, individual attention, and education necessary to help each child develop.
--Tim, Crossroads Parent

Thank you for giving of yourselves to help our troubled youth and teens. Because of you, my daughter has the tools she needs to achieve her goals.
--Donna, Crossroads Parent

(My daughter) was a basket case when she started at Crossroads. Self-esteem was non-existent. She was on suicide watch and she was not social at all, even with family. She had just shut down. She felt safe at Crossroads. She didn't experience the bullying or comments that crushed her. She came alive again. She graduated and that was huge! She is thriving and doing well. She experienced so much emotional healing and personal growth. She came to believe that she was valuable and had worth and talent. She gained confidence to reach out and to do hard things and try new things and discovered she could be successful. I feel Crossroads literally saved her life and helped her heal...

Fourteen years ago, my husband and I adopted a nine-year-old who had lived through a great deal of turmoil and had just learned the alphabet. Although she had no official "disability," she repeated third grade and struggled to learn to read and catch up with basic math skills. We learned first-hand about the limited options for at-risk students who don't "fit the mold."

Traditional education in our country typically means thirty or more students in the same room at the same time learn the same thing in the same way at the same pace. When stated this way, it's obvious that this is an impossible situation; our educational system is broken! In fact, I am impressed by how many students are successful in our traditional schools, which I know is because of the heroic efforts of the adults in those schools, working their hearts out for kids despite that broken system.

Crossroads School developed from a vision to meet the needs of the many students who, despite teachers' best efforts, are not successful in those traditional schools. We believe that we must build relationships with students so they begin to trust, and then we must meet them where they are and individualize their education so they can move forward.

And this plan is working! Students are finding success, building confidence, and planning for the future! I encourage you to join us in supporting these students. Call or email me--I'd love to show you around and help you see the amazing lives that are being changed in this place.

Sincerely,

Mission

The mission of Crossroads School is to assist students, who have experienced academic andor behavioral struggles in traditional schools, to reach their potential through an individually distinctive, learner-appropriate program. We accomplish this by implementing the following core principles:

* Surrounding students with adult mentors and individual support

* Focusing on each individual's distinctive needs, in learner-appropriate ways

* Assisting students in identifying and changing negative habits and patterns that jeopardize their future

* Equipping students with the skills they need to allow them to positively impact their community

* Providing an effective educational experience that will allow all students to learn, regardless of their individual hurdles and roadblocks

Background Statement

Crossroads School was the vision of four educators who began dreaming in 2009 about a place where students who don't "fit" in traditional schools can receive a hands-on, highly relational, individualized education that meets their needs and helps them find success.

In August of 2010, the school opened with four 6th-7th grade students, one full-time teacher, and many volunteers. By the end of the 2010-11 school year, the school had grown to eight students in 6th-8th grades.

The school continued to grow, adding students, staff, and grade levels. We initiated collaborations with the St. Vrain Valley School District to provide classes at the Career Elevation and Technology Center, the Innovation Center, and the Front Range Concurrent Enrollment program to provide additional elective options for our high school students. In 2013-14 we outgrew our space at the Journey Church and moved to CentraLongmont Church, and in 2019 we outgrew THAT space and moved to our current location at FaithPoint Church. Our first two students graduated in 2014. In 2015, we were featured in an Independence Institute Private School Profile, available here: https://www.i2i.org/altering-courses-a-profile-of-crossroads-school/. In 2016-17, we initiated a Future Planning Program in cooperation with Collegiate Crossings, to help students find their best fit future plan, prepare well for that plan, and find any necessary funding.

To-date we have served over 150 students. Last year, we served 35, and graduated three of them to bring our total to 37 alumni. These alumni are serving in the military, studying in a variety of tech schools, colleges, and universities, and pursuing meaningful careers. We anticipate celebrating more successes as we continue "changing our world, one life at a time!"
