In order to continue our mission, we rely on the goodwill of the community. It takes approximately $90 per cat and $120 per dog to spay/neuter/vaccinate. Would you consider helping us to further our cause and save even one animal from a life of disease and suffering?
Through the years CAWS has continued its work to assist animals in need. We have been the recipients of grants that helped to further our mission, such as Maddie's Fund, AAF, Petco, Petsmart. We are forever grateful.
Through our efforts we have spayed/neutered approximately 3000 animals over the years.
CAWS is dedicated to improving the lives of cats and dogs in the North Fork Valley.
We provide:
Shelter to homeless cats of our community
Socialization to prepare them for their forever families
Education, pet food and low-cost spaying and neutering of pets for families in need

Delta County Citizens for Animal Welfare and Shelter (CAWS) is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization that was formed in 1998 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the plight of Delta County's domestic animals. Many animals were left to roam the community in need of basic care, and as their populations grew, so did the number of euthanizations and deaths on the roadways. In its nineteen-year history, CAWS has found safe and loving homes for more than 4,700 domestic dogs and cats.
In June of 2019, CAWS opened Norm's Cat House, a community cat shelter to provide sanctuary to pets in need of re-homing. We continue to provide low-cost spay/neuter vouchers to our local residents.
