Our unique organization provides,rescue, rehab and adoption services for up to 2000 large and small domestic animals per year.
Additionally, Denkai has established the only low-cost and subsidized general care veterinary clinic in Larimer and Weld Counties of Colorado serving animals in need. This Clinic serves a total of 5000 plus pets in need annually.

I got my dog there two years ago. Denkai picked him up from another shelter that was going to put him down later that day because he was people and animal aggressive. I am so glad Denkai saved him that afternoon and gave me the chance to work with him. Many people told me he should have been put down. I am glad Denkai was not of the same thought. We adopted Alex (formally Mars) from Denkai on Monday. He is such a wonderful little puppy! The adoption process was very detailed and you could tell this was to ensure the best for him! While I was there I was able to see first hand the way that the adoption center and the veterinary clinic were run, and how the employees and volunteers treated one another and how they treated their customers. Founded in May of 2004 by Floss Blackburn, Denkai Animal Sanctuary has enjoyed a long running successful path in providing life saving services for domestic animals in crisis throughout the United States and Mexico.
In the formative years, Denkai established in Weld County, CO having purchased three facilities totaling over 640 acres, performing farming, conservation, large animal rescue, pet animal rescue and low-cost veterinary care for the area, Denkai quickly established as the largest and most diverse organization of its kind in the area.
Seeing a gap in services and need for a strong presence in Montezuma and LaPlata County, Denkai's board of directors voted to relocate the organization in 2017 to those areas.

Denkai -Cortez, CO - This is our 16,000 sf retail center - The store boasts an adoption center for rescued dogs and cats and sells retail pet supplies, accepts donations of used items, and provides low-cost programs such as pet food and vaccinations for low income pet owners.
Since Inception, Denkai has provided hands on rescue services to 20,000 pet animals and equines in need.
Denkai's low-cost veterinary services have provided a total of 30,000 procedures for pet animals in need. This has includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, basic care, dentals and other surgeries.
